DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered if you could save seeds to plant later for healthy plants to enjoy in future years? \nJoin us for our 10 Annual Seed Saving Classes and learn the techniques needed to collect seeds from your own gardens!  \nAdditionally you will learn about seed storage to increase their viability for a longer time.  \nBasic class 8:30 am-10:30 am  \nAdvanced Class 10:45-12:00 pm for those who have taken the Basic Class\nOur classes will be taught by Master Gardener Phyllis Pugnetti.  Phyllis has been a Master Gardener since 2007 and has been a Co-Lead and founder of the Yakima Master Gardener Seed Library and Heirloom Garden. She is passionate about finding and saving good seeds\, and educating those who are interested in knowing more about good gardening practices.  She teaches with fun facts\, interesting stories and a lot of enthusiasm! \nParticipants who complete the Basic class are granted membership to the Master Gardener Seed Library\, filled with flowers\, fruits\, herbs and vegetables that flourish in the Yakima County climates. Many are Heirloom varieties with their enhanced flavor and other desirable characteristics. The Yakima Master Gardener’s Seed Library has 180+ seed varieties available to it’s members.  When you borrow seeds\, you can replenish the library from your abundance at the end of the next season\, thus contributing to the success of the Master Gardener Seed Library for future gardeners.   \n  \nOrder seeds online when you register and pick up at the class on Feb 7\, 2026.  Registration and seed orders will be closed Feb 5\, 2026.  \n Register Now! \nYakima Master Gardeners

From the first push of a seed poking up through the soil’s crust in Spring\, to rambunctious blooming of so many flowers of Summer\, to the final few crispy leaves fluttering to ground in late Autumn\, and then the unseen regrowth happening under the frost and snow in Winter\, preparing to start again in Spring. \nThere is so much to experience in our gardens. \nAnd while this goes on in unending cycles\, critical insects quietly and surreptitiously influence all the progress being made. \nIn October\, the WSU Master Gardeners of Yakima County will present two experts who will share the challenges and successes that some of our favorite insects have in our gardens.\nFollowing them you will have the rare opportunity to enjoy the work of a world-renowned garden architect and plantsman as we follow him through “Five Seasons\, the Gardens of Piet Oudolf.” \nCome enjoy the comfort of the modern auditorium at Pacific NW University to watch and hear what they have to say.
