Special Foundation Meeting

TOPIC: Budget Revision for Demonstration Garden

5 p.m. July 14, 2025 via ZOOM 

President Rick Russell called the meeting to order at 5 pm. All board members were present except Member at Large Beatrice Reiss. 

Nine other Master Gardeners Foundation members were present. Also present was Yakima/Kittitas County Program Coordinator Patty Ratzlaff.

BUDGET REVISION REQEST FOR DEMONSTRATION GARDEN: Kelli Barton asked the Foundation Membership to approve additional funds for the Demonstration Garden budget for the current year. She said the initial budget $4,500 requested and approved for the current year was not enough due to some unexpected repairs needed, including $200 to $300 for additional repair to the sprinkler system, and $1,500 for professional pruning of a filbert tree and the large maple tree in the Bistro area. Kelli said the Demonstration Garden leadership plans to have two different trees professionally pruned each year. 

Rick Russell expressed concern that the requested amount might be inadequate, but Kelli said it would be adequate.

Melody Westmoreland moved the request be approved. Camille Smith seconded  the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous show of hands.
